Document Description
The San Gabriel Basin provides drinking water for over a million residents. Volatile organic compound (VOC) contaminatin was discovered in serveral areas during the late 1970's. In 1984, the San Gabriel Valley was placed on the U.S. Environmental Agency's (EPA's) National Priorities List (Superfund). After the project was completed and the operation started. 1, 4-Doxane was discovered in the influent water. WQA began to look for an appropriate treatment technology to add to the project. WQA chose a technology that utilizes ozone and peroxide to remove 1, 4-Dioxane. The Ozone Treatment System was installed at the locatin of one of two wells included in theproject. The proposed work involves constructing a pipeline to connect the two well sites. So that water from both sides can be treated at the same location. The pipeline will transverse two asphalt roadways within the park area.
