Document Description
The proposed project would install an emergency notification system at the Veterans Home at Yountville to connect Holderman Hospital, Acute Care Facility, with Eisenhower Building (Annex II), McKinley Hall (Section B), and Madison Hall (Section G). The project would network the emergency notification system through a cable system in existing underground conduits, and would include speakers to provide audible notification. The project is needed to improve hospital communications and meet Life Safety Code requirements. The project would accomodate the existing patient population with no expansion of current use.
The Veterans Home at Yountville is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) as an historic district. The original construction dates of the buildings to be included in the emergency notification system are as follows: Holderman Hospital Wing E, 1932; Eisenhower Building, 1955; McKinley Hall, 1930; and Madison Hall, 1950. Because of the NRHP listing status of the Veterans Home, a site visit was made with a representative of the State Office of Historic Preservation (OHP). Based on the site visit and consultation with the OHP pursuant to Public Resources Code 5024.5, the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO), has determined that the proposed project would not represent a significant effect on historical resources. Because the emergency notification system would be installed in existing underground conduits, the project would not alter the external nor interior historic features of the buildings.
