Document Description
SRCD has proposed to construct a bulkhead at Lower Joice Island in the Suisun Marsh. The purpose of the bulkhead is to protect an area in an exterior levee where a pipe was removed. The proposed bulkhead will be about 160 square feet (16'L x 10'H), built on the exterior side of the levee about 9 feet from the center of the levee. It will be built with 6" x 6" x 16" pilings pushed into the mud at the 2 foot tide level and 2" x 12" x 16' boards attached to the inboard side of the pilings with lag bolts, nuts and washers. About 5.3 cubic yards of native material will be placed behind the bulkhead. The bulkhead will be built using pressure treated Douglas fir, which has treated with Ammoniacal Copper Zinc Arsonate.
