Document Description
The applicant proposes to remove accumulated bedload material from a section of straight flat stream channel for the purpose of flood control. The work area is a section of Howell Creek approximately 1500 feet in length, eight feet wide, and two feet deep at the downstream end and tapering to zero feet at the upstream end. Total aggregate removed from the stream will not exceed 445 cubic yards. No aggregate will be removed within two feet of the well vegetated south stream bank and care will be taken to protect any existing trees on the north bank. The work will be done when the creek is dry. This project is a one time extraction. Once the aggregate has been removed no more may be removed without a separate permit from the Department. Issance of a Streambed Alteration Permit Number R3-2000-0302 pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1603.
