Document Description
The project is the construction of a bridge and road crossing of the San Benito River in San Benito County near Paicines, California. A low-flow crossing constructed previously is failing and does not provide adequate access to the Ranch during high flows. The proposed crossing involves a section of road approximately 16 feet wide and 225 feet in length. The proposed bridge design includes a 46-foot free span over the low flow channel of the river. The span will be approximately 12 feet above the low flow channel. The bridge span is supported by piers attached to concrete set below the river channel. On either side of the free span section is approximately 90 feet of fill and rip-rap. One side of the fill has three 48-inch minimum diameter culverts. The other side of the span has five 48-inch minimum diameter culverts. The California Department of fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 0837-99 pursuant to Section 1603 of the Fish and Game Code to the project operator, John Andreini.
