Document Description
The purpose of the proposed redevelopment project will be to revitalize the area through new commercial, industrial and residential development and the rehabilitation/reuse of existing development, maintain and expand residential neighborhoods and preserve/reuse cultural resources, and to eliminate various conditions of blight that have been identified within the proposed project area. Redevelopment actions to be taken could include land assembly, technical assistance, financial assistance, owner participation agreements, disposition and development agreements as well as funding specific improvements to infrastructure and community services. Based on current assessor's parcel data and field surveys conducted by the CRA, these types of land resources are prevalent within the proposed project area. Use of the these land resources could result in the creation of between 2,010,000 square feet and 6,700,000 square feet of new commercial and industrial space within the project area as well as the creation of between 2,100 and 6,900 new residential dwelling units. Redevelopment actions could also include the rehabilitation of existing commercial and industrial building, particularly in the historic core area of downtown, many of which have historic significance and several of which could be converted to residential use.
