The primary project objectives are to increase streamflow in San Clemente Creek downstream of the reservoir in the spring and to provide the landowners with more flexibility in draining the reservoir in the spring and to provide the landowners with more flexibility in draining the reservoir to extend the period beneficial flows are available at the end of the low-flow season.

This project is being funded by the National Marine Fisheries Service and the California Department of Fish and Game under the California Coastal Salmon Restoration Project. The sole purpose of the project is to protect juvenile steelhead in San Clemente Creek downstream of a seasonal dam by constructing a screened outlet device, which consists of a minor alteration to an existing dam. No expansion of use of the reservoir created by the dam is anticipated.
