Document Description
A Conditional Use Permit is required for the development of a 140' tall cellular communications facility at the Redwood Fields ballfield. Section 314-85 of the Humboldt County Code allows for Quasi-public uses and structures such as telecommunications facilities, which are regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission. A Special Permit is also required in order to exceed the 35' height limitation. The cellular facility consists of the monopole with 6 directional panel antennas, two 6' maximum microwave antennas and a 200 square foot concrete pad to support cellular cabinets. New electrical service will be installed underground. The ballpark is currently developed with a 140' monopole that has exhausted all co-location opportunities. The proposed tower is approximately 100' southwest from the existing tower. The applicant has submitted a cumulative radio frequency exposure study indicating compliance with appropriate guidelines regarding limited human exposure to electromagnetic fields.
