Document Description
The proposed project will involve the seismic retrofit of the historic Victoria Avenue Bridge located in the city of Riverside. The retrofit will include in-kind replacement of the deck, sidewalls, and railings; strengthening of the arch ribs, overlay of the abutment walls with reinforced concrete; retrofit of the foundation of the southern pier. Most of the work will be performed from the bridge deck, with the exception of the pier foundation retrofit. Access to the pier from the pier foundation will be via an existing access road from Victoria Avenue, with a previously disturbed area within the arroyo to be used as the staging area. This work will not require any new right-of-way, and all ground disturbing area activity will be in areas previously disturbed by construction of the existing bridge. Equipment access from the staging area to the north bank may be necessary, in which case, a small temporary bridge will be across the active steam.
