Document Description
The project removes silt from the bottom of this two acre lake by utilizing a specially fabricated vacuum head which will pump the silt to bins for drying and hauling. Silt samples have been tested for toxic metal and hydrocarbons, and are in the non toxic range. Silt that is removed from the lake will be used as a agricultural recycled soil additive. The goal of the project is to remove lake bottom silt so that aquatic weeds are reduced or eliminated, water quality improves for fish and wildlife, and water retension capacities are maintained for flood control purposes.

Reasons for Exemption
English Springs Lake is an existing component of the City's storm water/flood control system. The removal of silt from English Springs Lake will recover the water retention capacity of the lake for flood control purposes. English Springs Lake is visited by American Coots and migratory ducks. Since the silt to be removed is high in fecal matter, water quality will improve upon silt removal.
