Present Land Use
LLNL is a federal facility owned by the U. S. Department of Energy and, therefore, city of county organizations have no planning jurisdiction at the site. Onsite land uses include offices, laboratory buildings, support facilities, roadways, parking areas, and landscaping.
DOE proposes to remediate environmental contaminants via (1) monitoring, (2) risk and hazard management, (3) monitored natural attenuation, (4) groundwater and/or soil vapor extraction and treatment, and (5) soil removal.
