Document Description
The proposed project is the construction of a second main railroad track immediately adjacent to, and west of, the existing single track from approximately La Veta Avenue in the City of Orange, south to 17th Street in the City of Santa Ana, a distance of about 1.8 miles. A second railroad bridge would be built over Sanitago Creek, immediately to the west of an existing bridge. The new tracks and bridge would be located within existing railroad right-of-way. Project construction between Fairhaven Avenue and 17th Street would require changes in the layout of Lincoln Avenue. These changes require the acquisition of underlying interests in several slivers of street property along Lincoln Avenue and acquisition of a small parcel of private land at the intersection of Santa Clara Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. The proposed project would include limited physical and operational improvements to four intersections (La Veta Avenue in Orange and Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Clara Avenue and 17th Street in Santa Ana), as well as all necessary safety improvements. The Volume 1A is the Summary chapter for the Recirculated Draft EIR.
