The proposed project includes the construction and operation of a second main railroad immediately adjacent to, and west of, the exisiting single track from approximately La Veta Avenue in the City of Orange south to 17th Street in the City of Santa Ana. The proposed second main track would primarily be located within the exisiting Orange County Transportation Authority right-of-way along the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (Metrolink) railroad. Project construction from Fairhaven Avenue south to 17th Street may require the acquisition of street rights-of-way from the City of Santa Ana. In addition, the Santa Ana Second Main Track project would include limited improvements to four intersections (La Veta Avenue, Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Clara Avenue, and 17th Street) and a second (parallel) bridge over Santiago Creek.
