Document Description
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (Bureau) proposes to construct and operate a new high-security United States Penitentiary (USP) and ancillary structures on one of three sites located on the grounds of the Bureau's existing correctional facilities located in Lompoc, California. The new USP would house approximately 1,000 inmates. The construction of a new USP would create additional high-security bed space while allowing for the renovation and conversion of the existing USP to a medium-security facility. In order to provide a workforce to maintain the grounds of the new USP, the existing Federal Prison Camp (FPC) would be expanded by approximately 100 inmates. The addition of ancillary facilities such as administrative buildings and a central utility plant would permit the conversion of the separate institutions currently operating at Lompoc to a Federal Correctional Complex (FCC).
