Document Description
Under application 30534, the project applicant proposes to collect a combined total of 79 acre-feet per annum (AFA) in two reservoirs. Reservoir (POD) #1 is an existing, 10 AF, onstream inpoundment that was constructed in the 1940's. The applicant proposes to expand the reservior to 30 AF by excavating sediment build-up that has reduced the holding capacity. A rampway will be built when the reservoir is dry and heavy equipment will be used to remove the material. Dredge material is proposed to be used as fill on the property. Some mature riparian vegetation will be removed to provide access for the machinery, and revegetation will restore the habitat. Reservoir #2 will be a 49 AF, onstream reservoir with a pooled surface area of 4 acres. Project activities at Reservoir (POD) #2 include the removal of vegetation, excavation of soil, construction of a 24-foot high earthfill dam, installation of water control pipes, and bypass system. The purpose of this project is to provide irrigation, frost protection, and heat control for a total of 40 acres of existing and planned vineyards.
