Document Description
In April of 1988, Santa Cruz County received a Federal Hazard Mitigation Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to replace the Soquel Drive Bridge on Soquel Creek. With the cooperation of the County's Redevelopment Agency, the Department of Public Works and their consultants completed design studies for a new bridge that would provide additional flood clearence for debris flowing under the bridge and provide greater flood protection for adjacent businesses and residents during storm events. The proposed project is the final design based on the results of these studies for the replacement bridge and includes the design of vehicular approaches to the bridge, a right turn lane onto Porter Street, bicycle lanes and enhancements such as tree plantings between the bridge and Porter Street. Requires a Riparian Exception.
