The applicant, the County of Orange, is requesting a Use Permit from the City of Newport Beach for the proposed Santa Ana Heights Equestrian Park. The proposed project would provide equestrian recreational opportunities for nearby residents of Santa Ana Heights (SAH) and Newport Beach while allowing the area known as "the mesa", which overlooks the back bay and has been damaged by equestrian activities, to be restored with native vegetation. It would also provide relief to nearby City residents who have been adversely impacted by dust raised by the equestrian uses in the area.
