Document Description
The project is either a 678 megawatt (MW) or a 720 MW natural gas-fired, combined cycle power plant. Associated facilities include a new 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission intertie to the existing Victor Substation approximately 7.2 miles away; natural gas fuel supply pipelines and potable and raw water supply facilities. The project will result in impacts to desert tortoise and Mohave ground squirrel, which are protected under the California Endangered Species Act, requiring issuance of a California Incidental Take Permit ("Permit"). CDFG issued a Permit on October 16, 2002. Following issuance of the Permit, HDPP disclosed that an additional 7.3 acres was being used for the project. CEC, pursuant to its certified regulatory program, issued an approval subject to mitigation conditions on December 21, 2001. The additional 7.3 acres requires a minor amendment to HDPP's Permit from CDFG.
