These standards allow streamlined collection and transportation, yet require hazardous waste disposal or treatment.

The project has redirected large volumes of mercury-containing hazardous waste to proper disposal sites. Virtually all of these wastes were disposed in non-hazardous landfills prior to adoption of the emergency regulations being readopted by this package.
