Document Description
Three cast-in-place concrete boat launch ramps are to be constructed along the American River at Sailor Bar, Watt Avenue and Howe Avenue. The ramps will be constructed of steel reinforced concrete, with erosion-resistant cutoff walls and a grooved surface to improve vehicle and pedestrian traction. The area under and surrounding the new ramps will be graded to the proper angle (between 12 and 15 degrees), and at least six inches of compacted aggregate base will be installed as a base course. The concrete ramps will be 16 feet wide by approximately 60 feet long, and 6 inches thick. At all the ramp sites, a sixteen inch wide by 25 foot long section of the concrete ramp will be prefabricated at the site, then pushed part way into the river with a bulldozer to ensure that the ramp is usable at low flow conditions. The remainder of the ramp will then be poured in place. The pushed section of the ramp will be tied to the poured-in-place section with extra lengths of rebar sticking out of the pushed section.
