This project is surrounded by agricultural land to the north and south of mostly open pastures and grassland. To the west and upstream from the extraction area is the Corning Canal siphon crossing under Thomes Creek. Caltrans owns the Interstate 5 right-of-way and bridges on the eastern boundary of the project. The gravel processing plant and incidental support facilities are situated north of the extraction area.
