Document Description
The primary plans for the County-owned properties are on the southwest portion, which is approximately 195+/- acres in size. The majority of that site is composed of the tailings area impoundment and plant site. Both left from the Jamestown Mine. The tailings area is continuing to be closed and reclaimed, and the plant site is essentially reclaimed. The principal use proposed for the plant site is the Mother Lode Juvenile Center. The proposed 23,000 square foot regional juvenile detention facility would house, feed, school, and otherwise service a maximum of 60 juveniles. The other development proposed by the Draft Golden Pond Master Plan at this tme includes a motorpool for County vehicles and maintenance facility for County transit buses. This is envisioned as a 6+/- acre facility located on the old SMC plant site where the mill building and maintenance buildings foundations remain, and would serve as a parking and storage lot for County vehicles and buses. A maintenance building would also be constructed of 10,000-20,000 square feet to provide service to the fleet.
