Document Description
The project involves the construction of park amenities for the Mace Ranch Community Park (15.5 acres). The park is a city community park located north of Fifth Street in the Mace Ranch subdivision in east Davis. Approximately 3.5 acres of the park site is already improved with amenities, including 2 acres improved with turf. To the northeast of the park is a future elementary school. The preliminary site plan for the elementary school places field uses adjacent to the park site so as to allow for joint use of recreational amenities. A proposed retail site is to the southeast of the park site. Two park designs are proposed for the site: an active recreation design and a habitat preservation design, specially designed to preserve habitat for the burrowing owl. The amenities to be included in the Mace Ranch Community Park as part of the active recreation design are; (a) play fields, (b) play equipment, (c) bike path system, (d) parking lot, (e) natural vegetation area, and (f) landscaping and irrigation. The amenities to be included in the grassland park alternative are; (a) native grasses and vegetation, (b) observation decks, (c) signage and owl perches, (d) bike path system, (e) parking lot, and (f) landscaping and irrigation.
