Document Description
The proposed permitted activity is the abandonment of 5 existing wells to current California Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM) standards.
The approved original project, the Bolsa Chica Lowlands Restoration Project, disclosed in the certified environmental document, consists of the restoration of wetlands and aquatic functions and assessment of contamination at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands and Bolsa Gap.
The document analyzes the total removal of oil extraction activities and discusses the proposed activity of plugging and abandoning oil wells (ES-3). Removal of oil wells is not part of the restoration but was included in the environmental document because oil well removal would occur during the same time period as the project construction.
