Document Description
The Global Hawk is a complete aerial reconnaissance system that provides accurate, up-to-date intelligence information for mission safety and effectiveness in peacekeeping and combat operations. The proposal involves basing up to 60 high-altitude, long-endurance, unmanned aircraft, constructing associated facilities at the base, and employing 400 to 800 people. The Global Hawk's normal operations take place above 60,000 feet mean sea level. Five Air Force bases are being considered as potential beddown locations: 1) Beale Air Force Base, California, 2) Edwards Air Force Base, California, 3) Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, 4) Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, and 5) Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The Air Force anticipates approximately 12 sorties would occur each week.
