Document Description
The Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) would be providing funding to subsidize the transportation of woody biomass from forest restoration projects in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and other public and private timberlands to the Hat Creek Bioenergy facility in Burney, CA. The purpose of this subsidy is to transform woody material that would otherwise be burned in the forest into useful renewable energy and heat for the local community and biochar for agricultural use. The entire project was evaluated by Shasta County, including preparation of an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and an addendum to the EIR for the amended Use Permit #99-017A1.
