Document Description
The proposed project is a 600-student elementary school, serving grades K-5. It would include acquisition of nine parcels (one parcel is currently owned by the PVUSD); the reconstruction and refurbishing of the existing adult education facility; and the redevelopment of the remaining parcels. Proposed facilities include refurbishing and expanding the existing Radcliff building located at 550 Rodriquez, a new two-story modular building with 16 classrooms, a new multi-purpose building, a variety of hard court playground equipment (basketball, two-square, four-square, long-square, tetherball, dodge ball, ball wall, hopscotch, and relays), a soccer field, and a 45-space parking lot. The anticipated opening date for the school is June 2001. The PVUSD expects initial enrollment to be 500 students with an increase to 600 students within the next couple of years. The project site is located in a high density residential area, bordering on the City of Watsonville's central commercial area. Several residential units and one commercial building would be demolished with implementation of the proposed project. The PVUSD will provide relocation assistance to the affected residents.
