The project consists of widening Highway 101 and included in that will be a bridge widening to accommodate the HOV ramp at the existing Coyote Creek crossing. New bridges will be attached to existing bridges for both the northbound and southbound directions of the freeway, so that each will be three piers wide instead of two as currently exists. A total of four new piers will be constructed, all outside of tributary waters. Work will require removal of vegetation under bridges, construction of false work for pouring concrete bridges, excavation for the construction of bridge footings, and construction of bridge piers. The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement Number R3-2001-0116 pursuant to section 1601 of the Fish and Game Code to the project operator, Jeff Funk/Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.
