Document Description
Grimmway Farms Inc. and Grimmway Enterprises Inc., a subsidiary of Grimmway Farms Inc., operate a fresh carrot packing plant (hereafter facility) at 6900 Mountain View Road in Lamont about 20 miles southeast of the City of Bakersfield. Grimmway Farms Inc. and Grimmway Enterprises Inc, both California corporations are jointly referred to as Discharger. The facility structure covers approximately 42.4 acres, which consists of buildings, settling/storage ponds, access roads, loading and unloading areas, and associated equipment. The facility operates about 260 days a year, five days a week (16 hours/days) packing carrots. Carrot wash water generated at the facility is screened and discharged to unlined settling ponds prior to an ultimate disposal to Discharger owned 34 acres of infiltration checks and 72 acres of farmland with safflower. The Discharger's 106 acres (i.e., total) of effluent disposal property is hereafter referred to as the designated disposal area.
