Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2018-0412-R3, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, City of Vallejo. The project site has a tidally influenced drainage channel surrounded by pickleweed (Salicornia virginica) that conveys storm water runoff from on-site through a corrugated metal pipe culvert underneath Harbor Way and into the Mare Island Strait. The tidal flap gates at the end of the culvert currently allows water to seep underneath the culvert and into the project site during high tide events. The project is limited to placing approximately 277 cubic yards of on-site soil fill over an area of approximately 750 square feet; installing a new drainage structure at the end of the existing storm drain pipe; and installing lined ditches to channel stormwater into the new drainage structure. The fill and opening into the drainage structure are being designed to a minimum elevation of 6.2 feet to prevent Mare Island Strait water from backwatering into the project site during high tides. The purpose of the project is to raise the elevation of the site to allow for future development. This project is part of the larger Vallejo Station Project and Waterfront Project.
