Document Description
The project proposes to construct a drainage/diversion channel west of U.S. Highway 395. The drainage will be constructed with rock slope protection and will detour the water under a bridge. The channel will be 32 feet wide and approximately 1000 feet long. The School Road portion of the project is to upgrade the School Road intersection with U.S. Highway 395 to comply with the Caltrans Highway Design manual to improve safety. The project area is approximately 20 meters each side of the centerline of School Road and 80 meters along U.S. Highway 395, extending 30 meters westward along School Road from the centerline of U.S. Highway 395. Approximately 4.59 acres of disturbance will occur in the Sage Flat area, for a total of 4.73 acres of disturbance as a result of construction of this project. The project wil result in impacts to Mohave ground squirrel and Desert tortoise, which are protected under the California Endangered Species Act, requiring issuance of a California Incidental Take Permit ("Permit").
