Document Description
The project includes the demolition and removal of an unpermitted retaining structure (constructed approximately between June and September of 1997 and demolished and removed in winter of 1999) and the subsequent reconstruction during the winter and spring of 1999/2000 of a new retaining structure along the creek bank to replace a prior retaining structure which was destroyed in the 1995 storms. The new replacement retaining structure has since been permitted and located on the same site as the pre-1995 retaining structure and has substantially the same purpose and capacity as the pre-1995 retaining structure. All work, including demolition and removal of the unpermitted retaining structure wall and reconstruction of the new replacement retaining structure has been performed from the top-of-bank of Mission Creek or from the dry areas within Mission Creek stream channel. The project included provisions that no material, equipment, or workers would disturb any areas of the creek containing water, and the work has been completed in conformance with these provisions. The project also included provisions for utilizing erosion control devices to prevent any materials from entering the creek and a revegetation plan to replace all vegetation removed with appropriate native riparian vegetation from local stock. All the work has been completed in conformance with these provisions.
