To protect the quality of Metropolitan's has installed backflow prevention system within its distribution system. Metropolitan has identified six vacuum and air release valves within this prevention system that are vulnerable to contamination because of low pressure at these locations, a prior history of flooding at the structures, or proximity to sewer lines.
