The project consists of demolishing the existing Safeway in order to construct a new single tenant building and parking lot for a grocery store (Safeway). The new building will increase from the existing 29,740 square feet to 55,542 (revised) square feet. The project proponents have obtained commercial floor area from a variety of sources including: 12,861 (rev) square feet from the private sector, and wish to obtain 4,180 (rev) square feet from the Bijou Community Plan and purchase an additional 8,800 square feet from the City of South Lake Tahoe.
