Document Description
The project involves the demolition of Sheffield Reservoir, dam, and the 39,000 square foot Sheffield Treatment Building. Two 6.5-million gallon buried reservoirs will be provided along with a new 900 square foot control building and other minor above ground facilities (vents, etc.). A temporary 3-million gallon aboveground water storage tank(s) will be placed near the Firescape Garden during construction, then will be removed once the reservoirs are operational. A landscaped open space will be provided over the buried reservoirs. The open space will be used for activities including hiking, dog walking, art classes, bird watching, etc. A small ten-space parking lot will provided. A small restroom and up to four (4) individual picnic tables may be provided in the future, if needed. A helipad will be provided for fire fighting activities. The helipad is located over the possible future location of a third buried reservoir is not a part of this application. The existing Firescape Garden, which demonstrates fire-resistant native landscaping, will be retained. The existing Canine Training Area will be relocated offsite during construction, then will be re-established in approximately the same area where it now exists. The project would require approval of a Conditional Use Permit for a quasi-public use in any zone.
