Document Description
The project proposes to alter the streambed by improving and extending an existing street (Fairmont Avenue), from its current terminus at San Fernando Road to Flower Street. This extension includes elevating Fairmont Avenue, via a grade-separation viaduct, over San Fernando Road, over the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA) railroad tracks and finally over the Verdugo Wash before coming back down to grade north of the Verdugo Wash. The improvements will provide congestion relief for regional and local traffic and improve safety along the affected roadways. There will be no traditional dredging activities associated with this project. The project will result in less than or equal to 0.01 acre of permanent impacts to streambed, bank, and channel. There will be roughly 0.93 acre of temporary impacts from placement of temporary flow diversion facilities (cofferdams, sandbags or similar material) and mobilization of construction staff and equipment.
