Document Description
This project, to be carried out by the City of Angeles Camp in cooperation with civic groups, and community volunteers, involves the planting of 1000 roadside trees along Highway 12 and 49 that run through town. City staff and volunteers will plant the trees and perform the needed tree maintenance. The trees proposed for this project are non-native ornamentals, selected for their adaptability to local environmental conditions, disease resistance, appropraiteness to the planting site, shade capacity, lack of significance nuisance potential, etc. Fifteen-gallon planting stock will be used. Trees will be planted, staked and tied, watered and maintained in accordance with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection's tree planting guidelines. It is anticipated that this project will commence June 2000, and be completed by September 2000.

As lead agency under CEQA, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection find that this project is Categorically Exempt. This project involves minor alterations to land and vegetation including the planting of new landscaping trees. As this is heavily disturbed urban environment there is a low likelihood of impacting any significant biological resources. CDF's archaeological staff have reviewed this project and determined that there are no cultural or historical resources present in the project vicinity. CDF's finds that the proposed activities will pose a less than significant impact to the environment including cultural, historic and biological resources.
