Document Description
Component 2 will involve constructing the SRDF on the Salinas River to temporarily store and divert water during dry periods and modifying the existing Nacimiento Dam to handle a maximum probable flood event. The SRDF will involve constructing an inflatable diversion dam, fish way facilities (intake screen, bypass and fish ladder), river intake and pump station, transmission pipeline, control facilities and potential water treatment facilities. Modifying the Nacimiento Dam will involve enlarging the spillway by lowering the spillway crest, installing an inflatable rubber dam and raising downstream spillway chute sidewalls.
Component 2 is part of the larger SVIRWM Project that was awarded funds by the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) as part of the IRWM Grant Program. Component 2 was approved for $5,593,750 of the 12.5 Million that was awarded to the SVIRWM project on March 20, 2007. This is to advise that the State Water Board adopted a Statement of Overriding Considerations and approved Component 2 on July 15, 2008.
