Document Description
The California Department of Corrections proposes to build and operate a disposal system for effluent generated and treated at the Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) near Jamestown in Tuolumne County, California. The project would construct an eight mile (approximately 41,000 ft.) long 12-inch pipeline to transport and dispose of up to 600,000 gallons per day of effluent from the new tertiary treatment facility at SCC. The project would install a new pump station at SCC, construct a 350 acre-foot capacity effluent storage reservoir on a 23-acre remote site, and provide effluent to irrigate 300 acres of existing pasture land. The pump station would move the recycled water from SCC, distribute to sprayfields along the way, and transport excess wastewater to the storage reservoir. The reservoir would require an earthen dam and a smaller spillway dam. Approximately 30,000 cubic yards of suitable material would be imported for a portion of the dam fill. The spillway dam would include an overflow structure to allow the effluent to be directed into a drainage ditch within the Woods Creek watershed.
