Document Description
The proposed project is located within a partially developed project site, called the Ocean Trails Residential/Golf Course Development (Ocean Trails). The project involves permanent repair and stabilization activities for an ancient landslide that was activated on June 2, 1999. An approximately 17-acre area of coastal bluff, including portions of a golf course, sensitive habitat revegetation areas, pedestrian and bike trails and coastal access trails were impacted by the slide. The slide has created a deep "graben", a horseshoe shaped depression that is approximately 50 feet below the original surface elevation. In addition, an extensive series of cracks and fissures, some going down potentially as much as 90 feet exist throughout the slide area.
