Document Description
The County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County propose to purchase an existing, fully permitted Transfer Station and Materials Recovery Facility within the City of Downey, with the intent to operate it within its current permitted tonnage limits. An Environmental Impact Report (SCH # 1998111055) was previously prepared for the facility and was certified by the Downey City Council on June 22, 1999. The facility has been issued a revised Solid Waste Facility Permit on November 23, 1999 and two Conditional Use Permits (CUP 95-02, issued January 17, 1996 and CUP 98-54, issued June 22, 1999). The facility would assist in meeting regional, long-term solid waste disposal needs.
