The project consists of constructing an addition of approximately 12,000 SF which will contain four classrooms, offices, a conference room, toilet rooms, plan areas, and support spaces for the Child Development Center at Los Medanos College. Los Medanos College is located within one building. The existing structure is approximately 170,000 square feet.

Reasons for Exemption
The project is exempt because the addition will contain no more than four classrooms, and it is anticipated that the addition will increase the number of students enrolled in the Child Development Program from 52 to 100. (In addition, the number of infants, toddlers and preschoolers in the program will increase from 68 to 102.) Los Medanos College presently has 7,500 students, so the total number of students at LMC will increase 0.6% (six tenths of 1%) as a result of this addition. This complies with Section 15314 which states," Class 14 consists of minor additions to existing schools within existing school grounds where the addition does not increase original student capacity by more than 25% or ten classrooms, whichever is less..."
