Document Description
Approval and Implementation of a Remedial Action Workplan (AW) for the Barnhart and Dantzier in Otay Mesa, CA, prepared by ENVIRON Corporation of Irvine, CA, and dated February 13, 1998. The RAW was prepared in accordance with California Health and Safety Code Section 25356.1(h)(1). the RAW proposes to place as asphalt cap (parking lot) over the burn ash materials and auto-shredder waste at the site. The asphalt cap will prevent, minimize, and/or mitigate the actual and potential threats to human health and safety and the environment. This remedy is effective because it minimizes residual risks and maximizes long-term protection, minimizes short-term impacts, and increases the speed with which protection is achieved. It is anticipated that approximately 20 days will be required to complete construction of the asphalt cap. The approximately size of the asphalt paving at the Barnhart property is 18,000 square feet (0.41 acres) and at the Dantzler property is 37,800 square feet (0.86 acres).
