Document Description
The project will provide a 64,000 gross square foot science and mathematics teaching and laboratory with associated classrooms, wet and dry laboratories, faculty offices and support space. The purpose of the project is to house the following University academic programs. Earth Systems Science and Policy, Mathematics, and Statistics. The additional instructional capacity will allow the University to accommodate the projected student enrollment for 2002 and beyond. As a State public instition of higher eduacation, the beneficiaries of the project are the State of California and specifically the projected demand for higher education currently generated by the primary and secondary schools.

a) The project in consistent with the approved Campus Master Plan and all applicable policies and regulations; b) it is within the campus bounderies on a site less than 5 ares within the existing academic core development of the campus; c) the site will replace a portion of an existing parking lot, which has no habitat value; d) the development is within the planned program analyzed in the Master Plan Final Environmental Impact Report (SCH #1997081036); d) The project will not result in any environmental effects; e) the site and project can be adequately served by the extension of all required utilities and public services.
