Document Description
Amendments to the Escondido Zoning Code and Design Guidelines for Homeowners of Historic Resources allowing freestanding signs in the adaptive reuse area of the Old Escondido Neighborhood Overlay. As proposed, a business/occupant within the adaptive reuse area may display one freestanding sign potentially measuring up to eight (8) square feet in area and five 5 feet in height subject to Design Review Board approval. The proposed provisions would also permit external illumination of the sign. The Design Review Board would review the proposed sign design, colors, materials, and typeface to ensure compatibility with the historical character of the Old Escondido Neighborhood.

1. The proposed project will not result in a significant impact to the environment since it involves minor code amendments to allow on-premise freestanding signs not to exceed 8 square feet in area and 5 feet in height. The proposed design guidelines and requirement for Design Review Board review of individual sign proposals will ensure compatibility with the historic character of the Old Escondido Neighborhood. 2. The proposed amendments would have de minimis impacts on fish and wildlife resources since the proposed amendment would apply to properties in an urban setting that have already been developed.
