Document Description
On August 6, 1999, Safety-Kleen Systems Incorporatedm requested a Class II Permit Modification to the existing Hazardous Waste Facility Permit which was issued by the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) on June 30, 1993. This class II Permit Modification requests modification to an existing process unit (Safety-Thern Evaporator) by adding carbon filtration units to prevent odorous air emission. This unit is fully in compliance with Article 27 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR), and with all regulatory requirments of San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District.

Minor modifications to existing facilities that involve negligible expansions of the previous use and Do Not result in Potential for significant environmental effects.
1.) The project constituents minor modifications to the existing "permitted" process unit (
Safety-Thern Evaporator) to improve the air quality. It will not change any treatment process nor it will change total volume of hazardous wastes received, treated or stored at the facility.
2.) The project is consistent with existing local zoning and land use.
3.) The project will not add any new hazardous wastes codes to the existing hazardous waste facility permit.
4.) The project meet all the requirement of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District.
5.) The project will improve air quality in the vicinity area of the facility.
6.) The project will eliminate unpleasant but harmless odors from the neighborhood.
