Document Description
The project involves the preparation and adoption of the Countywide Siting Element of the Mono County Integrated Waste Management Plan, which is a solid waste planning document prepared in compliance with Title 14, California Code of Regulations, Division 7, Chapter 9. The purpose of the document is to evaluate whether the six existing solid waste disposal sites within Mono County have sufficient aggregate disposal capacity to contain the anticipated volume of solid waste generated within the county over the next 15 years, at a minimum. The project is planning process only. It focuses on existing landfill sites, does not involve any change in landfill operations at those sites, or any lateral expansion in use beyond the existing was footprints at each site. The Countywide Siting Element concludes that the availible aggregate disposal capacity at the existing six landfill sites exceeds the minimum amount required.
