Document Description
A coastal Development Permit to decommission and dismantle the process portions of the Simpson Paper Company Humboldt Pulp Mill. The work to take place involves four areas within the plant: 1) removal of the chip handling and pulping systems equipment (the main pulp building and pulp dryer building will remain); 2) removal of the power plant, including the hog fuel system, power boiler, recovery boiler, generator, evaporators, precipitators, scrubbers, and stack; 3) removal of the lime kiln and associated storage tanks; and 4) removal of miscellaneous equipment, including the fuel storage tank, spare parts inside the Plyhaven Warehouse, and concrete structures around the warehouse. The existing infrastructures, administrative and support buildings, dock facilities and water treatment facilities are not included in the demolition project and will be left in place. No work will take place below grade, and no work will take place outside of the plant.
