CDFW is executing a Streambed Alteration Agreement pursuant to Section 1602 (SAA#1600-2013-0083-R6) of the Fish and Game Code to the project Permittee, Inyo County Water Department. The Permittee proposes to hand clear or mow emergent vegetation in the river channel underwater with a Hockney boat to promote retention and development of open water and habitat diversity. Proposed project activities include boat put-in and take-put locations, boat access points, and revegetation plots. The project goal is to determine best practices for long-term tule control on the Lower Owens River to maintain a continuous 8'-10' channel for boat navigation.
