Document Description
The San Diego Unified School District is considering acquisition of approximately 25.04 acres of land within a Planned Industrial Development (PID) No. 96-7585, known as Telecom Center, for the construction and operation of a Food Services Center. The project site (Assessor Parcel No. 356-400-34) is located at the northwest cul-de-sac terminus of Copley Drive, at the southeast quadrant of the I-805 and SR-52 Freeways in the westerly portion of the community of Kearny Mesa, City of San Diego. The proposed Food Services Center will replace 23 existing school preparation kitchens located throughout the district. The site is partially surrounded by dedicated open space and is located on top of a bluff with natural drainage to the west, north and east. The proposed Food Services Center to be constructed will consist of approximately 80,000 square feet of 30' high-bay space for food production and warehousing, and approximately 20,000 square feet of office space housed on two levels. The facility will also include receiving docks, distribution docks, truck maneuvering, truck and private vehicle (employee, visitor and vendor) parking, truck access and parking access lanes and landscaping. No vehicle maintenance, fueling or washing will occur on the site. Raw material will be received, warehoused when appropriate, processed into meals for the district, and distributed to all campuses throughout the San Diego Unified School District.
